If you are seeking to begin or progress your career in management and leadership, our Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Leadership) is a good place to start. This course includes and builds on professionally-oriented knowledge gained at Graduate Certificate level, and explores strategy and advanced concepts in business administration. Students will study units focusing on human relations, culture, leadership, communication, innovation, disruption, marketing, legal frameworks, accounting, and economics. You will develop the capacity to resolve problems, create innovative solutions, and generate potential entrepreneurial business. You will develop contemporary competencies in theory and business practice through problem and activity based learning drawing on your professional expertise, understanding, and context. You will be able to reflect on and engage with current issues in your organisation as authentic tasks.

The course comprises eight core units (for a total of 48 Credit Points), which is the equivalent of a year of full time study. You can enrol, study and undertake assessment at times that suit you. Our Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (Leadership) is 'hyperflexible', meaning it is not bound by term dates or submission deadlines. You have up to five years to complete the course, and will be able to progress at your own pace, supported by staff and students who are encouraged to connect via a community of learning model. Credit Transfer may be possible if you have completed a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration or similar program, pending approval from the Head of Course and appropriate mapping of subject areas previously covered.

Number of Units Required CQUniversity uses the concept of credits to express the amount of study required for a particular course and individual units. The number of units varies between courses. Academic Requirements

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold one of the following:

  • A completed Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Bachelor degree, or higher equivalent qualification; or
  • A completed AQF Diploma with two years relevant* business or managerial experience.

*Relevant business or managerial experience includes a working knowledge of how a business operates, for example, budgeting, staffing, project management, financial reporting, process management, or human resources.

Professional experience must be shown in a letter of employment which is presented on a company letterhead as well as signed and dated by a delegated authority. The letter must contain position title, duties performed and length of service.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

- A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or

- An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or

- Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

Completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below:

- An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or

- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall & minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or

- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or

- An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Given the self study nature of the course, you are encouraged to study units in a particular order of progression to complete the Graduate Diploma of Business Administration. Ultimately, it is your choice but you are strongly advised and encouraged regarding the progression of learning that will most likely result in successful completion of this course. Every unit is worth 6 Credit Points, and the course consists of 8 units worth 48 Credit Points in total. All units are compulsory, and there are no optional or elective subjects or provision for recognised prior learning.
