Course Summary
The Certificate II in Autonomous Technologies focuses on providing a sustainable pathway to new careers in growth areas of automation and technology to ensure future employees have training in the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing resources industry. This qualification provides foundation knowledge in software, hardware and supporting frameworks required for autonomous environments across areas such as Electrotechnology, Engineering, Information Communication Technology and Business.
Graduates of this course will be provided:

• Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Skills in information communication technologies including networking, programming and Internet of Things (IoT)
• Skills in autonomy and robotics including electrical control circuits, fluid power, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and schematics and systems documentation
• An introduction to work health and safety concepts, including hazards analysis and risk management.

Student Outcomes, Career Opportunities and Occupations
The primary outcome of the Certificate II in Autonomous Technologies focuses on developing the skills needed to adapt to existing and new automated technologies introduced as a result of Industry 4.0. Graduates will demonstrate knowledge and skills required to work in entry level roles within autonomous environments and to undertake further education pathways in a range of technical, engineering, trade and information communication technology and related areas.
Graduates may apply their knowledge and skills and exercise limited judgement while undertaking routine employment tasks and engaging with autonomous technologies and technical systems. These include:
undertaking individual defined tasks with limited autonomy and judgement in accordance with written or oral workplace policies and procedures with some accountability and responsibility for results,
communicating known solutions and information relating to a limited range of predicable and routine problems arising in workplace environments using written, oral and technical communication methods,
applying knowledge and skills to complete basic planning, programming, and the use of technical and computing areas with a focus on autonomous environments.
Delivery Agreement
The Deputy Director-General, Investment, has approved funding for this course to be delivered initially as a pilot to assess demand and outcomes, with the course to be restricted to public providers only. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) subsidy for this course has been determined as $5,550 for a total of ninety VET in Schools (VETiS) student places (concessional rate).

Study Mode Definitions
- Online: Online courses provide the flexibility to study without normally requiring a student to visit a campus. Course content is studied through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers and teachers, and receiving study materials online/electronically. Work integrated learning, including placements, may be included in some courses.
- On-campus: Students studying in on-campus mode typically are expected to attend and participate in regular, structured on-campus teaching and learning activities throughout the University’s academic term. These activities may include lectures, tutorials, workshops and practice, online or other activities and normally will be timetabled at a CQUniversity campus or approved delivery site.
- Mixed Mode: Students studying in mixed mode will participate in a combination of online learning activities in addition to site-specific learning activities, which may include residential schools, co-op placements and/or work-integrated learning as a compulsory requirement of a unit. The additional site-specific learning activities are what differentiates a mixed-mode unit from an online unit.

Course Assessment Information
Credit transfer - If credit for relevant formal qualifications is sought, then the process will be actioned after the student has enrolled in at least one unit of competency as directed by the relevant trainer/assessor. The Trainer/Assessor will work with the student on their credit transfer application, and provide advice and support as necessary.
