Unit learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:

  2. Demonstrate professionalism and problem-solving skills appropriate to the social work placement agency
  3. Apply cross cultural competency skills, including working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  4. Examine and assess clients' needs by integrating social work theories and methods for professional practice
  5. Synthesise the AASW Code of Ethics, Domains of Practice, with agency policies and procedures, in order to develop an emerging professional practice.

Field Education is a key component of a social work course. All students studying social work are required to complete a 1000 hours of placement time in an agency over two placements as required by the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS) (2019). This unit is the first placement for students within a human service or social work organisation.
