MEDS21002 - Medical Sonography Clinical Practicum 1

General Information

Unit Synopsis

On completion of this course, students should be able to apply their sonographic skills, knowledge and attitudes in the clinical workplace. Having passed the readiness to practice element of the clinical sonography course (Assessment of Readiness (ARC)), the student is well prepared for the workplace and will practice sonography of the abdomen and superficial structures, obstetric and gynaecological studies and some vascular studies in an effective and efficient manner. Critical appraisal of performance will enable students to develop their patient care, professional scanning skills and analytical abilities in a positive and constructive manner.

Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
