Overview
The transition from university to clinical practice is both exciting and challenging. In this unit you will prepare for the transition from student to registered nurse by identifying the graduate nurse scope of practice and care prioritisation of the patient. You will explore and develop strategies for workload management, working in a team environment and delegation requirements including the Decision-Making Framework (DMF) (NMBA, 2020). The Registered Nurse Standards for Practice (NMBA, 2016) will be revisited and you will identify how a registered nurse maintains capability for practice within the profession.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Pre-requisites: NURS13140 NURS13141
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Use Moodle forums for student questions rather than Microsoft Teams.

"I would have preferred if the in-person classes had continued, as I find face-to-face learning much more engaging and effective compared to online delivery."
Face-to-face classes were transitioned to online classes early in the term due to poor/minimal attendance. Encourage on-campus students to attend classes so that they remain a viable alternative to online classes.
