Course Summary

Advance your career in Emergency and Disaster Management with the Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management). This diploma qualification will equip you with industry-wide knowledge and skills, such as communication and emergency procedures, and areas specific to the roles and functions of public safety such as Prevention/Mitigation, Preparation, Response and Recovery. The course is suitable for current or aspiring paid professionals or volunteers alike.

As a graduate of this course, you may be eligible for credits towards higher level courses in Emergency Management.

For your application to be considered, you must meet the following entry requirements.

Entry Requirements

Required:

Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy and numeracy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.

Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake vocational education and training at this qualification level.

Digital Literacy - The student will need to have access to the internet and the ability to:

  • Use search engines to search the internet
  • Navigate websites
  • Download and upload documents
  • Confidently manage files and documents on their computer, including organising their documents into folders, moving, copying and renaming documents
  • Type and format documents in Word, including working with tables,
  • Manage text (i.e. cut/copy/paste)

VET Student Loan Information

VET Student Loans may be available for eligible students in approved Diploma level qualifications. The loan can be used towards Tuition Fees only and does not cover additional expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, equipment, travel, tools, and accommodation or general living expenses. Loan limits or caps may apply for some eligible courses and where a loan limit is reached for a course, students may be required to pay upfront for any remaining units.
