Independence, self-motivation and confidence are essential skills for university. This online micro-credential will explore a range of theories and concepts to facilitate the development of practical skills and positive attitudes necessary for success in higher education. This micro-credential will provide opportunities for critical self-reflection on key aspects of student life, including individual learning preferences and study habits; time management and goal-setting; individual study and career paths; notetaking and assessment strategies. This micro-credential will require students to practise critical thinking, and apply information literacy skills to their research. Students will learn to negotiate the procedures and systems used in higher education, and practise communication skills in a range of contexts.
Students who successfully complete the set of 9 micro-credentials* developed from the unit SKIL40025 Preparation Skills for University, (which forms part of the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03), may be eligible for credit transfer, pending all other entry requirements to the Skills for Tertiary Education Preparatory Studies (STEPS) CL03 are being met, as automatic entry will not apply.
