Being a preceptor involves partnering to support midwifery students, a significant and potentially rewarding role. It requires guiding individuals who aspire to become midwives, adhering to high-quality clinical practice, orienting them to professional standards and expectations, and sharing time and expertise to aid their learning. Preceptorship can present challenges, such as providing constructive feedback, identifying at-risk students, marking assessment tasks, collaborating with university faculty, and upholding public safety. Therefore, understanding the role of preceptorship, the Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) program, and the scope of practice for students who are also registered nurses is invaluable. This online micro-credential uses an interactive presentation style, including self-directed learning activities, reflective questions, and specific readings. It allows participants to build and consolidate their knowledge, enhancing their preceptorship skills.
This is a non-creditable micro-credential awarded a digital badge and Certificate of Completion which can be shared with your social networks and displayed in your professional portfolio.
