PDC151653 First Nations Cultural Awareness Training (Level 1) is designed to support participants in the development of First Nations cultural awareness. This micro-credential builds participant knowledge and understanding of the histories, lived experiences, cultures and rights of First Nations peoples. This micro credential presents critical examination of the threads of First Nations social inequality and associated outcomes and explores ways that reconciliation is expressed at the individual and organisational levels. This micro-credential is designed to assist participants in developing a deepened awareness and understanding of the contemporary context of Australia’s First Nations peoples within a changing Australian society from the point of colonisation in 1788 and through key shaping events into a 21st century context of deepened social inequality. Participants are taken through the complex historical threads and their undercurrents flowing into an Australian liberal market economy and its interactions with globalisation that lead to contested First Nations social justice pursuits. Through this knowledge journey participants consider their individual steps in responding to key strategic policies and reports, including National Reconciliation and Closing the Gap.
This micro-credential is designed for a broadened participant audience and organisational contexts.
