The Glencore delivery structure is set up over the period of one year on campus training meeting the requirements outlined in the contractual agreement.
Block A - 35 units of competency
Block B - 3 units of competency.
Block C - 1 unit of competency
Block D - 3 units of competency
Organisation & Delivery Mode:
The program is organized to reflect the learning and work activities that take place within the Fitting and Machining industry. The application of this knowledge is assessed in other components of the program that focus on specific work activities. These comprise of structured training for the period of their apprenticeship during which time students are able to practice and refine their skills in live work situations. In this case, participants must successfully complete all components of the program to be deemed to be competent.
This is done so that candidates are provided with background information and the opportunity to apply skills and knowledge in work similar environments. This is achieved through a combination of face to face, trainer lead theory classes and practical sessions involving small groups and individual activities. This approach is influenced by client and industry need, the learning style of participants and the availability of physical resources.
Candidates are provided with training workbooks for each competency which includes all materials used in the training sessions, assessment materials (other than tests) and reference materials.
It is only when the candidate successfully completes all required assessments that they are deemed competent in the courses.
Schedule: The training program is conducted over the duration of the training plan. The sequence of training is negotiated with the individual candidate, the employers and the RTO.
Weekly tutorials are offered as additional support for those that need it. These are planned and timetabled for one hour per week. For those students who require additional support over and above the tutorials offered by the vocational teaching staff, additional LL&N support is available via the local learning, literacy & numeracy teaching staff. Students requiring additional support are identified by the BKSB test & the vocational teaching staff and are referred to the LL&N teaching staff.
Workplace tasks will be undertaken to confirm the student has met industry standards consistently and over a period time, by way of the Third Party Report.
