The Medication Assistance Skill Set combines two very practical accredited units, Recognise healthy body systems (HLTAAP001) and Assist clients with medication (HLTHPS006) delivered by CQUniversity health professionals. With Recognise healthy body systems (HLTAAP001) you will learn to work with basic information about the human body and to recognise and promote ways to maintain healthy functioning of the body. Assist clients with medication (HLTHPS006) focuses on your ability to prepare for and provide medication assistance, and complete medication documentation. It also involves supporting a client to self-administer medication.
This is a concise course offering that can provide an opportunity for you to upskill and work in diverse health care settings.
The skills in this unit are delivered in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.
This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support.
Students must be currently employed in the Community Services or Health Services industry.
Students must complete a Vocational Placement and/or Work Integrated Learning as part of this qualification.
Additional information
Students are required to complete the assessment conditions per unit of competency, which includes simulated assessment and work integrated learning.
Every student is required to attend work integrated learning at their place of employment to be deemed competent in the workplace.
