As part of this short course students will complete two units AURETU103 and AURETU104, receiving a Statement of Attainment and Official Transcript upon completion.
This course is for those who wish to receive a Refrigerant Handling License (RHL) to carry out work in relation to Refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) equipment with fluorocarbon refrigerant or a component of RAC equipment that carries the risk of refrigerant being emitted.
Students must hold the relevant trade qualification before enrolling in this course, please see the entry requirements for further information.
To be eligible for entry to this course, you must have completed either the current version or the superseded and equivalent version of one of the below qualifications as per training.gov.au.
You will be required to provide a copy of your Completion Certificate/Testamur and Academic Transcript listing the units of competency achieved in your application.

· Certificate II in Automotive Cooling System Technology
· Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology
· Certificate III in Agricultural Technology
· Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
· Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
· Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology
· Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Fuel Technology
· Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology
· Certificate III in Forklift Technology
Qualifications completed prior to 2005 (AUR05) versions will need to provide the following.
· Successful completion of an Apprenticeship e.g., Proficiency Certificate; or
· Trade Recognition Certificate; or
· Trade Certificate with a Trade Outcome and evidence of automotive industry experience.
Applicants who hold an MEM qualification are encouraged to apply for CQUniversity’s Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology via Recognition of Prior Learning for potential consideration.
During your study
A Refrigerant and Air Conditioning (RAC) Trainee Licence must be applied for to undertake this course. The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) will require proof of your enrolment to apply, please refer to arctic.org for further information.
On the first day of training all students will apply for the RAC Trainee Licence with the assistance of teaching staff and be provided a letter confirming their enrolment in the two units of study.

Students who complete the two units, AURETU103 and AURETU104, will receive a Statement of Attainment and Official Transcript from CQUniversity. Upon completion students can then submit their certified paperwork and their current automotive qualification used to gain entry to this short course to ARC. This will allow students to receive the AAC02 – Refrigerant Handling Licence – Qualified Persons (Automotive Air Conditioning Licence).
This licence enables graduates to perform automotive air conditioning service and repairs. Possible job titles may include Automotive Air Conditioning Serviceperson.

Students will complete formal face-to-face training for units AURETU103 and AURETU104 over a five-day period at either the Rockhampton City or Emerald campus. Training will be held from 8:00 am to 4:45 pm Monday to Friday.
