Course Summary

Queensland Justices of the Peace volunteer to serve the public by signing documents that need a qualified witness. A Justice of the Peace (Qualified) has all the responsibilities of a Commissioner for Declarations, as well as several judicial duties, both "non-bench" and "minor bench". A Justice of the Peace (Qualified) can: * issue search warrants * issue arrest warrants * grant bail * witness documents * witness statutory declarations * witness affidavits * witness and administer oaths and affirmations * certify a true copy of an original document

Once a student has completed the course, there are mandatory requirements to become a Justice of the Peace. Refer to the Queensland Government website for more details.

Being a Justice of the Peace would assist students in a number of different job roles. This would include assisting them in roles within real estate, legal offices, court houses, medical offices or in a voluntary capacity assisting those within the community.

Standard Course Structure

Each unit will be delivered over a six week period, however as it is competency based, it may be possible for learners to complete their training sooner if they have reached the required skill level. Students may choose to enrol in two units in the one intake.
