Course Summary

Queensland Commissioners for Declarations (Cdecs) can volunteer to serve the public by signing documents that need a qualified witness. The role of a Commissioner for Declarations is a purely administrative role. A Cdec can witness documents, witness Statutory Declarations, witness Affidavits, witness and administer oaths and affirmations and certify a true copy of an original document.

Once a student has completed this course, there are mandatory requirements to become a Justice of the Peace. Refer to the Queensland Government website for more details.

Being a Commissioner for Declarations would assist students in a number of different job roles. This would include assisting them in roles within real estate, legal offices, court houses, medical offices or in a voluntary capacity assisting those within the community.
