Course Summary
Are you interested in a career in a justice related profession? Students learn how to research, analyse and present information relevant to the criminal justice system and communicate with clients on justice related issues. The intended purpose of this course is to provide participants with a sound grounding in workplace skills, knowledge of organisations and management practice, legal knowledge to work effectively and research in the justice field.
This course has moved into a transition period. All students currently studying this course must complete their study by August 2022. The last date of enrolment for new students is 30.9.21.

Job role could include employment with Queensland Police, justice-related occupations, corrective services roles, legal offices, customs service, security, private investigations, parks & wildlife, transport, youth justice, legal centres, Government departments in compliance or WHS.
Study Mode Definitions
- Online: Online courses provide the flexibility to study without normally requiring a student to visit a campus. Course content is studied through a number of means including the use of online discussion forums, electronic library resources, by contacting lecturers and teachers, and receiving study materials online/electronically. Work integrated learning, including placements, may be included in some courses.
- On-campus: Students studying in on-campus mode typically are expected to attend and participate in regular, structured on-campus teaching and learning activities throughout the University’s academic term. These activities may include lectures, tutorials, workshops and practice, online or other activities and normally will be timetabled at a CQUniversity campus or approved delivery site.
- Mixed Mode: Students studying in mixed mode will participate in a combination of online learning activities in addition to site-specific learning activities, which may include residential schools, co-op placements and/or work-integrated learning as a compulsory requirement of a unit. The additional site-specific learning activities are what differentiates a mixed-mode unit from an online unit.

Learners have a finish date for individual units but may complete their training sooner if they have reached the required skill level. As most students will undertake this distance program on a part-time basis, the duration for the full qualification will vary. The course can typically be completed in 12-18 months, based on approximately 1300 hours of learning.

Core A recommended unit sequence is provided for this course. Students should only enrol in a maximum of two units at a time. Students wishing to enrol in more than 2 units must have approval of the CQUniversity VET teacher. CJSSJI403 and BSBRES411 are delivered as a cluster and therefore must be enrolled together in the same intake. |

Course Assessment Information
Credit transfer - If credit for relevant formal qualifications is sought, then the process will be actioned after the student has enrolled in at least one unit of competency as directed by the relevant trainer/assessor. The Trainer/Assessor will work with the student on their credit transfer application, and provide advice and support as necessary.
