Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: Student feedback
Feedback
Assessment requirements and the scaffolding against relevant learning outcomes should be clearly articulated.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the unit coordinator clearly articulates assessment requirements to ensure that students understand how their performance will be determined and how individual assessment items scaffold upon one another throughout the term.
Action Taken
All assessment items were clearly articulated to the students early in term and were scaffolded to be in greater alignment with Learning Outcomes.
Source: Staff feedback
Feedback
Consideration should be made to maximise exposure to clinical clientele to implement learnt unit material.
Recommendation
It is recommended that opportunities for practical application of skills be considered in the unit design.
Action Taken
Practical paediatric days were organised by the Unit Coordinator in the 2024 delivery of this unit. These provided opportunity for students to practice history taking and assessment on children in the clinical environment in a one-on-one tutorial environment. Students were also provided with an extra full day hands on practical day prior to ensure they understood each assessment technique and normative values.
