General Information

Unit Synopsis

On successful completion of this work integrated learning unit students should be able to apply theoretical knowledge attained in preceding and concurrent units to the professional work environment for the discipline area they are preparing to enter. This health industry practical experience allows students to interact with practicing professionals and to experience the work role which should further develop their technical skills.

Pre-requisites:
BMSC11003 Introduction to Medical Sciences and
BMSC11002 Human Body Systems 2 and
BMSC11004 Introduction to Biochemistry OR BMSC11005 Foundations of Biochemistry.

Co-requisite:
BMSC12003 Haematology

Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Placement be extended to allow for an improved student learning experience
Recommendation
This unit (BMSC12002) and another 3 week placement unit (BMSC12005) were combined into a single 6 week placement (BMSC12005). BMSC12002 is now in teach-out mode, no new enrollments will be taken after 2018.
Action Taken
The unit was scheduled in error in 2019 however it will not be scheduled in 2020.
