Feedback, Recommendations and Responses

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.

Source: Student Unit Teaching Evaluations (SUTE)
Feedback
The unit is well structured and delivered in a great manner.
Recommendation
It is recommended to adopt the same delivery strategy. Furthermore, the unit will provide more useful learning materials in the context of high-level planning aspects of Australian building and construction industry as well as research focused.
Action Taken
The teaching team implemented the same strategy as recommended. Students were given additional learning materials of industry and research focused. Students were given flexibility of choosing a research topic of industry focused on their own. This flexibility approach seemed to be admired by many students as evidenced by the feedback received in the class and through the responses to University surveys.

Feedback
Students require assistance in selecting a research topic.
Recommendation
The unit requires students to choose a topic relating to the building and construction sector. So far, the unit has not been restricted to one problem area or topic but is open to problems students are passionate about solving in their current workplace or the construction industry. It is recommended to explain further selecting a research topic related to the context of the research focus.
Action Taken
While the lecturer encouraged students to come up with their research topic, he also provided a list of more than twenty examples of relevant research topics in Moodle. A couple of students informed the lecturer that they struggled to create a topic at the beginning; however, they could create an effective topic on their own by referring to the examples provided by the lecturer.
