CQUniversity offers three post-graduate courses in the discipline of asset and maintenance management leading to the qualifications of a Graduate Certificate in Asset and Maintenance Management, a Graduate Diploma of Asset and Maintenance Management and a Master of Asset and Maintenance Management. The courses are specifically aimed at people currently working in the asset and/or maintenance field and wanting to upgrade their qualifications and skills.
The development of these courses has been in response to a strong and clearly-voiced demand from the industry. The units within these courses have been designed and developed in close collaboration with industry partners and experts.
The Asset and Maintenance Management course aims to produce graduates who understand asset management principles, maintenance philosophies, strategies and processes. Graduates will be able to develop their analytical skills to create sustainable, safe and cost-effective solutions. Further, graduates will apply a range of practical skills and knowledge using the latest asset and management tools.
Career Information
The course is suited to those currently employed in the areas of maintenance engineering or maintenance and asset management, who would like to advance their careers through professional upgrading of their knowledge, skills and qualifications. It is appropriate for maintenance personnel across all industries as it covers maintenance/ asset management principles and practices that can be applied to any industrial maintenance organisation. The course is practically focused in that it develops the essential knowledge and skills required by both asset maintenance managers and maintenance practitioners to support the goals of the industrial organisation. This qualification is highly regarded by industry as reflected by the increasing requirement for maintenance engineering/maintenance management qualifications in the selection criteria for many vacancies in the maintenance management field. This course will help to advance the career of professionals associated with any engineering asset intensive organisation.

| Number of Units Required | CQUniversity uses the concept of credits to express the amount of study required for a particular course and individual units. The number of units varies between courses. Units in postgraduate courses normally consist of 6 points of credit or multiples thereof (e.g. 12, 18, 24). |

What do I need to start?
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must hold:
- A completed Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) equivalent Graduate Certificate of Asset and Maintenance Management; and
- Current employment in maintenance engineering/maintenance/asset management; OR
-
A completed AQF Associate Diploma in Engineering, Technology or Applied Science with either:-
- minimum 1 year relevant asset/maintenance management employment experience OR
- minimum 3 years relevant maintenance engineering employment experience
Employment experience must be shown in a letter of employment which is presented on a company letterhead as well as signed and dated by a delegated authority. The letter must contain your full name, position title, duties performed and length of service.
English Language Proficiency Requirements:
If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University. Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
- A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
- An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
- Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
Completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.
If you do not satisfy any of the above you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores as below:
- An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall & minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
- An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.
English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

- You must observe OHS guidelines of your company.
- Collect data from the live equipment that may involve travelling to the site recording data from the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and any risks associated with these activities will be your own or your company's responsibility.
- While working with your company where are employed while studying this course, you will be required to collect data from CMMS or any equipment that is necessary to answer the question asked in the assignment.
- Use Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. It is essential that you acquire these skills before attempting assignment.
- Attend online lecture and tutorials and be familiar with hardware and software technology required for this purpose.
- Use the Moodle Learning Management System on a regular basis. Your understanding of the system, and also the helpdesk contacts details, must be handy for seeking help.
- You must be equipped with virtual and email communication on your laptop as well as on your mobile phone that has roaming or Wi-Fi capability.
- Your laptop or desktop should also be ready with a Wi-Fi connection, required software and hardware such as mouse, keyboard, headphones and external storage etc.
