Overview
In this unit you will develop an advanced level of technical, creative and performance skills within the context of the presentation of a publicly performed theatrical work. Each succeeding unit in Production will require you to demonstrate a greater degree of interpretative and executant skill development. You will have the opportunity to broaden your technical, creative and performance skills in theatre through participation in various creative projects. This may include collaborative or solo creative projects, as well as those with a social innovation goal. You will be required to document the outcomes of this project as part of your personal performance website that you will build upon throughout your course. The building of the content within this website will enable you to critically reflect on your development as a theatre practitioner and to showcase your knowledge and skills to reach your desired career outcomes.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of 'pass' in order to pass the unit. If any 'pass/fail' tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully ('pass' grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the 'assessment task' section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University's Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

1 Practical Assessment
Task:
- You will be required to undertake performing/technical roles in the major production(s) for term 1.
- Performing roles (all solo and ensemble roles) are allocated by the guest director for the production after the completion of the designated audition period.
- Technical roles are allocated by the guest director in conjunction with the course coordinator. Expressions of interest for specific technical roles may be sought by the unit coordinator, and you may choose to nominate for one of these roles.
AI Assessment Scale: Level 1 - You must not use AI at any point during this assessment. You must demonstrate your core skills and knowledge. Any misuse or lack of disclosure regarding the use of AI tools will be considered a breach of academic integrity.
Please note: The 72-Hour grace period does NOT apply to Production as it is a practical assessment with a fixed schedule.

2 Project (applied)
In this part of your production unit, you are to demonstrate your active participation in a community creative project associated with your development as a theatre practitioner. This community creative project cannot be a professional theatre engagement or other paid work.
Length: Minimum commitment of 24 hours across the term (approx 2 hours per week)
Approval: All community creative projects must be approved by the Unit Coordinator and Head of Course, by Friday of Week 3. Use the quiz in Moodle to describe your community creative project and provide details for approval.
The community creative projects are community-based and could include, but are not limited to:
• Participation in Theatre in Education touring to schools (e.g. Choices or Safety Circus)
• The QT Scene Project (including placement in a local school)
• Participation in a creative project with a community arts organisation (eg. Crossroads Arts, Mackay Regional Council Forum Theatre)
• Participation in a performance/creative/film project with a CQU Postgraduate student or digital media student/group
• Unpaid internship or placement (e.g. Summer School)
• Self-devised community creative project with community activation at a community organisation (e.g. Mackay Base Hospital)
• Participation in a technical theatre community creative project

Part A: Develop a professional performer website (15%)
1. Choose a template from freely available website creation software
2. Add your head shot and a minimum of 5 other performance photos
3. Include your contact details
4. Include a performer's bio suitable for a theatre program
5. Include a longer performer's bio suitable for a website
6. Include a curriculum vitae (CV) suitable for an audition
7. Include details of your creative project from this term including description & photos
Part A: Presentation format

Part B: Critical Reflection Task - Social Media Vertical Video (10%)
Length:
Full Critical Reflection Video: 2-3 minutes
Social Media Teaser: 30 seconds maximum
This assignment requires you to reflect on the creative project that you have participated in this term via the production of a video and teaser, suitable to post to your website, your professional social media accounts, as well as the CQCM Instagram and Facebook pages.
This allows you to reflect on your development as a performer and gives you insight in how to promote yourself, your project and your institution (CQCM) concisely on social media. You must incorporate a mixture of compelling footage, graphics and text in your videos.
Part B: Presentation format
Upload a Word document with your name, student number and YouTube URL links to your videos. Your final videos should be in high resolution.
AI Assessment Scale: Level 2 - You may use AI for planning, idea development, and research. Your final submission should show how you have developed and refined these ideas. Any misuse or lack of disclosure regarding AI tools will be considered a breach of academic integrity.
Please note: The 72-Hour grace period applies to Assessment 3 - Performer website & Reflection.
