Assessment Tasks

1 Practical Assessment

Assessment Title
Project schedule

Task Description

This assessment item is an individual assignment worth 20% of the unit marks. The purpose of this assessment is to demonstrate your project scheduling skills by using the Microsoft Project software.

You are required to develop an optimised, resourced and priced project schedule based on a given case scenario during your tutorial class in Week 8. You need to demonstrate your scheduling skills through several progressive steps using the Microsoft Project software, and in doing so, your understanding of the value proposition embedded in a well-conceived and optimised project schedule, resource plan, and budget. This assessment is preceded by 5 Microsoft Project practicals which are to be completed during the weekly tutorial classes in Weeks 3 - 7. The case scenario will be handed over to you at the beginning of your tutorial class in Week 8. You will then need to complete a number of tasks to develop the project schedule. Late or out of class submissions will not be accepted unless a formal extension request has been submitted and approved as per the university assessment policy.

This assessment is exempted from 72-hour submission grace period and must be completed during your tutorial class in Week 8. A reattempt of this assessment will not be allowed.

2 Group Discussion

Assessment Title
Peer Assessment

Task Description

This assessment item is an individual assignment worth 10% of the unit marks.

Peer assessment is an integral part of the learning process that encourages students to critically evaluate each other's work, provide constructive feedback, and develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter. This task will require you to assess the work of your peers using a structured rubric, offering both qualitative and quantitative feedback. By participating in this process, you will enhance your analytical and evaluation skills while gaining insights from diverse perspectives.

Purpose
The objectives of this assessment task are to:

  • Foster a reflective learning environment where students can critically engage with the unit material.
  • Develop students’ ability to provide constructive and professional feedback.
  • Encourage collaborative learning through peer interaction and diverse perspectives.
  • Enhance self-awareness and self-regulation in academic work through comparison with peers’ submissions.

Submission

  • You will first complete and submit your own individual assignment (Assessment 1) which must meet the requirements outlined in the assessment guidelines.

Reviewing Peer Work

  • You will then be assigned a couple of peer submissions. You will need to evaluate each assigned submission based on a structured rubric provided within the assessment framework.

Providing Feedback

  • Feedback must be constructive, specific, and relevant, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.
  • You are expected to write a minimum of 150 words for each peer review (as specified in the task details on Moodle).
  • You must ensure that your feedback is aligned with the marking rubric by using professional and respectful language.

AI Assessment Scales - AI PLANNING: You may use Al for planning, idea development, and research. Your final submission must demonstrate how you have developed and refined these ideas.

Guidelines for AI tools usage

  • Al tools may be used for pre-task activities such as brainstorming, outlining and initial research. You may use AI-assisted automatic speech recognition to transcribe notes, AI tools to convert notes into outlines, and brainstorm or suggest improvements to already created work. Image generation technologies might be used to generate starting points for designs or tools used to explore possibilities for producing software. You must use the AI-generated ideas as the starting point and apply your skills and knowledge to refine and improve the initial ideas to the final submission. GenAI-created content without changes must not be included in the final submissions.
  • You do not need to cite the AI-generated content, as it will be substantially changed in the final submission. However, you need to briefly describe how AI tools were used during the planning, research and initial idea-generation stage of the assessment.

Note: A reattempt of this assessment will not be allowed.

4 Written Assessment

Assessment Title
Project Management Plan

Task Description

This assessment item is a group assignment worth 50% of the unit marks.

The purpose of this assessment is to help you develop a project mamanagement plan by using the knowledge, comprehension, and application of the unit content covered during the term. You are required to develop a comprehensive project management plan for a real-world project scenario which will be provided on Moodle website. The plan must include project objectives, scope, delivery method, scheduling, budgeting, quality management, risk management and ethical considerations. Each group will justify their management decisions using industry best practices, academic literature, and project management standards (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).

For this assessment, you will work in groups of 3-5 students within your tutorial class in consultation and approval of your tutor. Distance learning students may collaborate with other distance learning students or complete the assessment individually with the approval of unit coordinator.  Groups must be finalised by the end of Week 5.

This assessment consists of:

  • The project management plan which follows a professional report format.
  • Supporting artifacts (research resources, weekly drafts, communication with team members, meeting minutes, Gantt chart, risk register, cost breakdown, stakeholder analysis, and other resources while developing the plan) stored on a collaboration workspace. A shared folder must be setup on OneDrive which will include all the supporting artifacts.
  • A confidential peer evaluation report assessing the contribution of all group members, including themselves.

AI Assessment Scales - AI COLLABORATION: You may use Al to assist with specific tasks such as drafting text, refining and evaluating your work. You must critically evaluate and modify any Al-generated content you use.

Guidlines for AI Tools Usage

  • Al may be used to help complete the task, including idea generation, drafting, feedback, and refinement. You should critically evaluate and modify the Al-suggested outputs, demonstrating your achievement of Learning Outcomes. You may use AI tools to rewrite/edit to clarify or refine your ideas or edit text captured with automatic speech recognition (e.g., verbally recorded drafts). In a multimodal context (for example, presentation video or slides), AI-assisted editing tools could be used alongside documentation of the process. If AI is used to edit/refine your final submission, you must acknowledge the use of AI tools, and the original work must be provided for comparison. While you can use AI to improve the clarity or quality of the work, no new content can be created using AI unless specifically allowed in the assessment.
  • You may be asked to use specific AI tool(s) to complete a particular task of the assessment. Students must cite the AI content (refer to AI citation guidelines by ALC), including the prompts used to generate the content.

Note: This assessment is exempted from 72-hour submission grace period and a reattempt of this assessment will also not be allowed.

Academic Integrity Statement

As a CQUniversity student you are expected to act honestly in all aspects of your academic work.

Any assessable work undertaken or submitted for review or assessment must be your own work. Assessable work is any type of work you do to meet the assessment requirements in the unit, including draft work submitted for review and feedback and final work to be assessed.

When you use the ideas, words or data of others in your assessment, you must thoroughly and clearly acknowledge the source of this information by using the correct referencing style for your unit. Using others’ work without proper acknowledgement may be considered a form of intellectual dishonesty.

Participating honestly, respectfully, responsibly, and fairly in your university study ensures the CQUniversity qualification you earn will be valued as a true indication of your individual academic achievement and will continue to receive the respect and recognition it deserves.

As a student, you are responsible for reading and following CQUniversity’s policies, including the Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. This policy sets out CQUniversity’s expectations of you to act with integrity, examples of academic integrity breaches to avoid, the processes used to address alleged breaches of academic integrity, and potential penalties.

What is a breach of academic integrity?

A breach of academic integrity includes but is not limited to plagiarism, self-plagiarism, collusion, cheating, contract cheating, and academic misconduct. The Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure defines what these terms mean and gives examples.

Why is academic integrity important?

A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.

Where can I get assistance?

For academic advice and guidance, the Academic Learning Centre (ALC) can support you in becoming confident in completing assessments with integrity and of high standard.

What can you do to act with integrity?
