Assessment Overview
Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of 'pass' in order to pass the unit. If any 'pass/fail' tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully ('pass' grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the 'assessment task' section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University's Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses
Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Feedback from SUTE data T2 2023
Harsh assignment marking with hard-to-follow feedback.
The unit coordination will endeavour to provide continuing support to the marking team to facilitate marking consistency and supportive feedback to students.
Feedback from SUTE data T2 2023
I found both lecturers [to be] helpful and showed empathy and understanding while struggling through my unit while being unwell.
Unit coordinators will continue recognising and responding to students who require support or other learning adjustments that promote positive learning outcomes.
Feedback from SUTE data T2 2023
Tutorials [are] not as long each week.
We recognised that a two-hour Zoom session was too long and planned to reduce it to 45 minutes to one hour each week.
Feedback from SUTE data T2 2023
The content of this unit was really fantastic. The lecturers were passionate and excellent. The information provided for how to address our assessments was very supportive.
The unit coordination team should continue providing specific Zoom sessions for all written assessments to guide students.
Feedback from Email

1 Written Assessment
Aim
The aim of this assessment is for you to examine primary health care influences and demonstrate your understanding of factors that impact community health outcomes. To achieve this aim, you are to engage with the weekly unit materials and tutorials from weeks/modules 1-5. The resources provided during these weeks will help you develop this assessment task.
Introductions to the Task
In modules 1-5, you examined the principles of primary health care (PHC), the social determinants of health, and the concepts of equity and inequality in health care. You also identified health literacy principles, health promotion and illness prevention. According to the World Health Organization (WHO, 2021), investment in PHC improves health outcomes, access and equity in health care and health care performance. A strategy used to strengthen global PHC is research and innovation (WHO, 2021). Primary health care provides health services to individuals, families or communities regardless of location or socio-economic status. The World WHO and member states' commitment to primary health care improves equity, access and positive outcomes for users.
Part 1
On 20th January 2025, the United States of America (USA) announced its withdrawal from the WHO due to a claim that the WHO mishandled the COVID-19 pandemic (Yazdi-Feyzabadi et al., 2025). This withdrawal will potentially take effect in 2026 if no reversal occurs. There was a similar withdrawal attempt on 6th July 2020; it did not eventuate. The USA is the most significant financial contributor to the WHO, and this funding is voluntary. The USA contributed $1.284 billion to the WHO in the 2022-2023 biennium to enable countries to respond to emergencies and help stop the spread of diseases globally (WHO, 2024).
Part 2
A grassroots innovation, 'Health Kiosk' is helping vulnerable populations bridge the gap between health literacy and health outcomes for a Belgian city's individuals, families and communities (Masquillier et al., 2023). This study integrates aspects of primary health care services into a practical situation. 'Health Kiosk' links health, health literacy and health outcomes to connect real people to primary health care services within the community. This strategy is an innovation that seeks to promote health outcomes for some of the vulnerable population groups in the community.
Instructions
Please follow the steps below to complete the two parts of your assessment task:
1. Provide a brief introduction outlining the aim of your assessment (approximately 150 words).
2. Read the Gostin et al. (2020) article, USA withdrawal from the WHO is unlawful and threatens global and USA health and security. See full reference below.
a. Discuss four (4) implications of this potential withdrawal on delivering primary health care (PHC) in Australia (300 words).
3. Read Masquillier et al. (2023) article, development and implementation of a community health literacy hub, 'Health Kiosk' – A grassroots innovation. See full reference below.
a. Discuss the possible impact of the activities at the 'Health Kiosk' on the community's health outcomes (300 words).
b. Explain how the ‘Health Kiosk’ may promote community access to primary health care (300 words).
4. Provide a concise conclusion summarising the main concepts in your assessment (approximately 150 words).

Literature and References
In this assessment, use at least 10 contemporary references (seven years or less) to support your discussion. You may also use seminal scholarly literature where relevant. Suitable references include peer-reviewed journal articles as well as textbooks and credible websites. When sourcing information, consider the five elements of a quality reference: currency, authority, relevance, objectivity, and coverage. Grey literature sourced from the internet must be from reputable websites such as government, universities, or national peak bodies, for example, the Australian College of Nursing, the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Note that websites such as StatPearls, Life in the Fastlane, and Wikipedia are not suitable for this assessment task. Lecture notes are not primary sources of evidence and should not be used in this assessment. All resources, other than web pages and grey literature, must be sources from the CQUniversity library.

2 Case Study
Aim
The aim of this assessment is for you to demonstrate your knowledge of health literacy, health inequities, the public health service of immunisation to improve community health outcomes and the role of health professionals in delivering primary health care services to promote health outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
Instructions
Please follow the steps below to complete this assessment task.
· You are writing an academic essay.
· Read the case study below, and using the conversation guide on SKAI or https://skai.org.au/healthcare-professionals, relevant peer-reviewed literature and materials in modules 1–9, answer the following three questions:
1. Discuss the tips to guide the immunisation conversations you would provide to the parents stated above (approximately 550 words).
2. Nurses are important in promoting and delivering immunisation programs to individuals, families and communities. Describe the role of registered nurses in promoting and delivering immunisation programs as part of the primary health care to communities. Provide an example of a vaccination strategy that has made an impact other than SKAI (approximately 400 words).
3. Explain the interplay between health literacy, health inequities and health outcomes in any Australian healthcare context (approximately 550 words).
Case Study
The National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance in Australia (NCIRS) made a media release on 14th December 2023 on the declining vaccination coverage among Australian children. See media release here or https://ncirs.org.au/vaccination-coverage-children-continues-decline-following-easing-pandemic-related-restrictions
One strategy to address declining childhood vaccination coverage is the creation of a sharing knowledge about immunisation (SKAI) in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders. You are a registered nurse working in the SKAI team, and you are required to talk with parents who are hesitant to vaccinate their children.

As a CQUniversity student you are expected to act honestly in all aspects of your academic work.
Any assessable work undertaken or submitted for review or assessment must be your own work. Assessable work is any type of work you do to meet the assessment requirements in the unit, including draft work submitted for review and feedback and final work to be assessed.
When you use the ideas, words or data of others in your assessment, you must thoroughly and clearly acknowledge the source of this information by using the correct referencing style for your unit. Using others’ work without proper acknowledgement may be considered a form of intellectual dishonesty.
Participating honestly, respectfully, responsibly, and fairly in your university study ensures the CQUniversity qualification you earn will be valued as a true indication of your individual academic achievement and will continue to receive the respect and recognition it deserves.
As a student, you are responsible for reading and following CQUniversity’s policies, including the Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure. This policy sets out CQUniversity’s expectations of you to act with integrity, examples of academic integrity breaches to avoid, the processes used to address alleged breaches of academic integrity, and potential penalties.
What is a breach of academic integrity?
A breach of academic integrity includes but is not limited to plagiarism, self-plagiarism, collusion, cheating, contract cheating, and academic misconduct. The Student Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure defines what these terms mean and gives examples.
Why is academic integrity important?
A breach of academic integrity may result in one or more penalties, including suspension or even expulsion from the University. It can also have negative implications for student visas and future enrolment at CQUniversity or elsewhere. Students who engage in contract cheating also risk being blackmailed by contract cheating services.
