Overview
Rapid technological development and increased globalisation bring with it a wealth of new business and societal opportunities and challenges as competitive advantages of societies, nations, and companies continue to change. This unit focuses on developing your ability to think creatively about anticipating and responding to these developments and to identify opportunities and directions for sustainable growth. The unit develops your abilities to recommend practical innovation systems and programs for organisations. The unit improves your skills in analysing and synthesising information and developing solutions to improve the long-term sustainability of a business or organisation. You learn about concepts, principles, tools and techniques relevant to all phases of idea generation, concept development and commercialisation of new business models, new business processes, new products, new services and solutions to societal challenges. This unit identifies and explores the issues in implementing these solutions while recognising the competencies, power and access to resources of the individual and the organisation. This unit allows students to focus on an organisation, industry, or sector of their choice from a selected list of options for all assessments. If you have successfully completed the unit MGMT20128 you should not enrol in this unit.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Feedback, Recommendations and Responses
Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Feedback from Business reports from McKinsey & Co. and others state that AI will quickly become embedded in contemporary innovation and entrepreneurship practices, as well as in novel business solutions.
Students studying innovation and entrepreneurship must be comfortable using AI and assessing its potential to contribute to innovation and entrepreneurship solutions.
The recommendation is to introduce students to the use of AI for innovation and entrepreneurship. However, it must be clear that students must use AI responsibly. Students' AI use must be guided by students' competent critical thinking, self-reflection, and ethical considerations, while ensuring academic integrity. It is recommended to continue to inform students about current AI developments and their impact on business innovation and entrepreneurship.

It is recommended that the word count for Assessments 1 and 2 be extended from 2000 to 2500 words.
