Overview
This unit is designed to introduce students to maintenance strategies, philosophies and procedures, including the basic principles of asset management systems. Students will investigate and report on key concepts relating to asset and maintenance management in their organisation. They will analyse causes and develop solutions to asset and maintenance management problems and recognise and apply quality control procedures and quality assurance systems. This unit also helps students to develop the multi-literacy skills they will require to be a successful learner.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Every unit is reviewed for enhancement each year. At the most recent review, the following staff and student feedback items were identified and recommendations were made.
Feedback from Unit Evaluation
Students reported lower satisfaction in 2023 Term 1 regarding clear unit requirements and learning materials, despite valuing assessments and relevance.
Learning materials will be streamlined and updated to better align with assessment tasks and support independent study. Unit requirements and assessment expectations will be clearly communicated early in the term via Moodle and the unit profile.
Feedback from Unit Evaluation
Fluctuations suggest a need for improved consistency in delivery and assessment clarity, particularly following changes in coordination and delivery mode.
Assessment updates and marking rubrics will be reviewed and finalised before term commencement to ensure transparency.
