This unit provides you with an overview of the business and commercial aspects of professional engineering and assists you to develop a specific skill relevant to your intended career. You will be able to evaluate workplace experiences in terms of the Engineers Australia, Stage 2 Competencies for Professional Engineers.

Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

The third assessment related to contract management in engineering business was perceived as overly complex, and students appear to have lacked sufficient preparatory knowledge.

Recommendation

Students received instruction on industry-standard contract management processes. However, the assessments should be revised to include more comprehensive data and knowledge, enabling students to better understand and meet the requirements.
