Overview
This unit builds on the foundation provided by Visual Design Fundamentals, to further develop your skills and knowledge in visual communication design. Using industry-standard software tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop, you will learn how to produce visual design solutions that communicate effectively with a target audience. Through the exploration of design theories and their application, you will learn how to employ appropriate design methods and formats for different communication problems.

Pre-requisites or Co-requisites
Prerequisite: MMST11003 Visual Design Fundamentals Students who have completed DGTL11004 Digital Design and Communication may not enrol in this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).

Review and revise learning resources and portfolio tasks to ensure they reflect the most recent software enhancements and techniques.

Adobe has introduced multi-level access to particular GenAI features and has also included credits. These may cause access or equity issues for students.
Research access options to ensure that specific student cohorts are not disadvantaged when redeveloping content to accommodate new GenAI features.
