Overview
This unit will introduce you to the workings of the screen industry and the lifecycle of a screen production, from concept development through to distribution. You will explore the major departments involved in professional film and television projects, gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of production crew members, and learn the protocols, tools and terminology used on set. Through case studies, industry-informed content, and accessible practical exercises, you will build foundation knowledge of the production process while developing awareness of safety procedures, on-set etiquette, and career pathways. You will also consider how emerging technologies, including generative AI, are reshaping screen production practices and industry roles. Whether you are aspiring to direct, produce, shoot, or support screen projects in technical or creative roles, you will leave this unit with a clearer understanding of how the industry operates and where you might fit into it.
