Overview
In this unit, you will learn how to design and build engaging, responsive websites for a range of creative and professional contexts. You will explore principles of visual design, typography, page layout, colour theory, usability, accessibility, information architecture and navigation, and apply these principles to the design of effective websites. You will learn how to create web pages with the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and control their presentation and layout with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Using software tools such as Adobe Photoshop, you will prepare and optimise digital images for the web while developing an understanding of file formats, colour, and usage rights. You will also use the Bootstrap front-end web framework and the WordPress content management system to create responsive websites that adapt their layout and presentation to different screen sizes and devices. Through practical hands-on projects, you will develop the skills to turn creative ideas into functional, accessible, visually appealing websites.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
