Overview
In this unit, you will explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) come together to create smart, connected systems. You will learn how devices, sensors, and data are used to build intelligent applications that analyse information, detect patterns, and support real-time decision-making. You will gain hands-on experience in designing and implementing AI-enabled IoT solutions, working with sensor data, communication technologies, and cloud or edge platforms. Through practical activities and projects, you will develop applications that address real-world challenges in areas such as smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. You will also consider key factors such as system performance, reliability, and energy use. The unit addresses privacy and ethical issues in intelligent connected systems, supporting responsible technology development. By the end of the unit, you will be able to analyse IoT systems and develop intelligent applications for modern data-driven environments.

COIT20245-Introduction to Programming
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
