Overview
This unit will provide you with an understanding of the: characteristics of the construction industry with emphasis on the demand for industry services; response by the construction industry organisations to that demand; contractual links between industry participants to provide the services; management activities required for the delivery of construction projects from inception to completion; and the views of informed opinion on some future directions for the industry.

There are no requisites for this unit.
Important note: Students enrolled in a subsequent unit who failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before the census date or within 10 working days of Fail grade notification. Students who do not drop the unit in this timeframe cannot later drop the unit without academic and financial liability. Attendance Requirements
All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
Recommended Student Time Commitment
Each 6-credit Undergraduate unit at CQUniversity requires an overall time commitment of an average of 12.5 hours of study per week, making a total of 150 hours for the unit.

Assessment Grading
This is a graded unit: your overall grade will be calculated from the marks or grades for each assessment task, based on the relative weightings shown in the table above. You must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade of 'pass' in order to pass the unit. If any 'pass/fail' tasks are shown in the table above they must also be completed successfully ('pass' grade). You must also meet any minimum mark requirements specified for a particular assessment task, as detailed in the 'assessment task' section (note that in some instances, the minimum mark for a task may be greater than 50%). Consult the University's Grades and Results Policy for more details of interim results and final grades.

3. ASSESSMENT 3 ( 30% of unit · 2 parts )
Part 1 - Interactive Oral Assessments
This assessment covers unit learning outcomes (ULO) 1-6.
This is an interactive oral assessment to be scheduled in Week 12 tutorial time. This assessment requires students to participate in a 10 min individual interactive oral assessment conducted via Zoom. Your identify will be verified and your face shall be visible to the assessor. The time slot for each student will be scheduled by Week 10.
During the session, students will demonstrate their understanding of key concepts, theories, and practices covered in the unit and their ability to apply this knowledge to authentic scenarios and contemporary industry issues. Students will be required to present their responses verbally and engage in a discussion with the assessor. The topics of the assessment will be randomly chosen by students.

This task is related to unit learning outcome 4-5.
You are expected to deliver a 5-min presentation related to the construction project in Assessment 1 and discuss the project's business model and financial conditions. The presentation must be real-time via Zoom. Your identity will be verified before this presentation and your face shall be visible to the assessor. Interactive oral assessment will be arranged after your presentation.
The GenAI Guidance Level of this task is No GenAI use.
Week 12 Thursday (11 Feb 2027) 7:00 pm AEST
