General Information

Overview

This unit introduces you to fundamental communication concepts relevant to a career in the Built Environment. These include written, verbal, visual and mathematical communication skills. You will discover CQUniversity systems that will support your success in future studies. Through teamwork tasks, you will develop skills in negotiation, team dynamics, conflict resolution and ethical issues. Interpretation of commonly used industry documentation, together with effective plan and specification reading and analysis, and the introduction to industry-specific software, will provide you with the foundations for future studies and work in the Built Environment.

There are no requisites for this unit.

Attendance Requirements

All on-campus students are expected to attend scheduled classes - in some units, these classes are identified as a mandatory (pass/fail) component and attendance is compulsory. International students, on a student visa, must maintain a full time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period (satisfactory attendance for International students is defined as maintaining at least an 80% attendance record).
